Sarah Jessica Parker Plans New Perfume Line

February 9, 2005 – 10:00 am

The actress famous for her role in Sex and the City is working with Coty Inc. to create her own line of fragrances. The name of the perfume and the exact scent are still being decided but Parker said it would be “fresh”.

Sarah Jessica Parker is not saying much about the details of her first perfume, but she has told the Press that it will be “intentionally quiet” and not overpowering. “It’s not a scent you’ll smell before a person walks in a room. I don’t want it to not have social skills!” Parker said.

Parker also told reporters that she has avoided launching her own perfume line in the past because she didn’t want her fans to think she was just slapping her name on any product. She said that perfume has had an important function for her especially “on days you don’t have time to shower,” she joked.

Parker later explains that she has decided to go ahead with her own perfume now because “I’ve been invited into women’s lives and I take that seriously,” Parker said. The fragrance will be out in the fall.
